Ol' MacDonald - Ei, Ei, O

Thankfully the camp ground was easy to find. I'm not sure that Hubby was interested in any more of Navi's strange gravel roads. What he should remember is just because it is a secondary hwy, it doesn't mean it is paved. As we approached the resort, our worst fear began to resurface - there would be no privacy. Thankfully what we were looking at was the overflow area.

The registration process is nice and quick and the map to our site was easy to follow. The sight itself was nestle amongst the trees and a decent size, for one family. However, we were sharing this site with friends of ours, who also happen to have a large tent. The plus side of getting there first, meant we could pick our spot. We choose one that was sheltered somewhat by the trees. Setting it up wasn't much fun given the itchy, prickly bushes. There were also a lot of dead tree branches sticking out in various directions. Oddly enough, they somehow seemed to come down while we were there and ended up as firewood. Strange isn't it?

Once camp seemed set-up we took a look at the bill - $133ish for two days. This is for one site "(although two family we are charged double, plus extra for a second vehicle) and two dogs. This does not include any of the extras such as the merry-go-round, hay rides, or train rides. How many people go camping with that much extra money? Next stop was to pick up firewood: two bundle for $14, pretty standard. I also managed to find a small tea shop, where I bought an iced chai latte and mini doughnuts; maybe camping here wouldn't be that bad.

The beach - lovely, covered with soft sand...but very, very busy. I made dinner as we waited for our friends. Thankfully they arrived shortly after I was done cooking. I made enough to feed our family of four, their family of six and then some. Unfortunately, they weren't that hungry. Although, after setting up their camp they did have a small share. Finding a spot for their tent proved to be a bit of a challenge, simply given its size and odd shape. We managed to make it all work out, vehicles and all.

That evening, I took the kids down to the beach. It was so much quieter. We enjoyed a quick splash in the water...the sand carrying nicely into the water, creating a soft path. The shallow water made it easy to walk a ways into the lake and the setting sun made it seem like we were the only ones around. This is what freedom feels like.
